In 2007, an investment group led by Kent M. Swig purchased the firm and began a re-branding and redevelopment of the HelmsleySpear brand name and company; operations as the firm had declined in stature over the years since the death of Harry Helmsley in 1997. Since the purchase, a new logo, marketing materials, new computer and phone equipment, new technology and infrastructure, among other items have been purchased and created thus allowing the firm to compete in today’s real estate environment.
